Together & Free

Together & Free, and we are looking to recruit some volunteers to join ‘support pods’ for families that were separated while crossing the border into the U.S. and are now reunited in the Boston area. Each volunteer will be part of a small group that is dedicated to one or two families, and together, the group will make an ongoing commitment to help the family by gathering donations on their behalf, visiting them to drop off food or clothes, giving them rides to appointments, helping them navigate accessing services, etc. Each individual volunteer will have flexibility to help when they are able, and the family will have a network to draw on. At the moment, there is an urgent need for more volunteers to help families in North Chelmsford and Lowell. These are Spanish-speaking families, so facility with Spanish is a plus, but many of the support activities can be handled using Google translate and enthusiastic hand gestures (I speak from experience).
