Lowell Education Justice Alliance planning meeting

If you are against the privatization of our public schools and are interested in protecting and improving public education for all, please join us!
LEJA focus for Fall 2017
–Local level – Student free time – recess and homework
–State level – budget ( Foundation Budget vote along with the Fair
Share tax)
–Solidarity Work: LEJA will participate in the Raise Up petition drive to get $15 minimum wage and Paid Family Leave on the MA ballot next year. We will also get out the vote for the Fair Share tax that will be on the ballot. There will be a training in September 19th and LEJA will plan a LEJA petitioning day. Date TBA.
Other issues we are interested in for future action: Tackling the destructive impacts of high stakes testing on students and teachers; Rethinking our curriculum to be more inclusive of all experiences/histories; Ensuring appropriate resources and supports for ELA and SPED students/teachers/staff; Diversifying the staff/teacher population. What else???
