SUMMARY:Cosecha Rally for immigrant workers
DESCRIPTION:Join us next Monday\, December 10th\, as Cosecha and the Grinch show Boston what Christmas looks like for immigrant workers who have worked for months without getting paid by their boss. Without money for rent\, food\, presents\, and travel\, workers who have not gotten paid will not be able to celebrate as they should be able to with their loved ones. We will be in Sullivan Station in the morning\, in downtown at lunch hour\, and in Maverick Square in East Boston in the evening. Sign up here to join us! \nIn November\, Cosecha won back almost $4\,000 in stolen wages for Wilfredo\, Marlon\, and Ludin\, former workers with KMZ Construction. On Monday\, we will be spreading the word around Boston about how we use community power to win back wages and fight for dignity and respect in the workplace. Join us on Monday!

SUMMARY:Circle Up Lowell
DESCRIPTION:Lowell-area organizations that promote restorative values in their work are joining together for a special night to discuss opportunities to deepen restorative practices in Lowell. Using the film Circle Up as a starting point for conversation\, this community event will facilitate discussions about restorative practices with opportunities to meet and learn about organizations in Lowell who share restorative values. Organizations will table and mingle with participants to share their efforts during networking time before and after the screening. Participating organizations will help facilitate small-circle discussions following the film to allow people to process the film as a community and imagine opportunities to strengthen restorative practices in Lowell. \nCircle Up is a documentary that shares the journey of a mother\, Janet Connors\, after the brutal slaying of her teenage son as she reaches out to her son’s killer to offer a chance at forgiveness. Circle Up is a call to action for reframing approaches to crime and punishment through the lens of restorative justice\, forgiveness\, and accountability. \nThis Lowell event seeks to strengthen community-based efforts for restorative practices and nurture vital conversations relating to the prevention of and response to harm within the Lowell community. Participating partners include organizations promoting restorative practices in their work with survivors and victims\, individuals recovering from addiction\, people returning from incarceration\, and diversion from incarceration. \nCome join the conversation and Circle Up Lowell! \nLearn more about the film Circle Up here: http://www.circleupdoc.com \nPlanning your night – schedule for the evening: \n5:00 – 5:30 Doors Open – Networking with Organizations promoting Restorative Practices + Food\n5:30 – 7:00 Opening Remarks & Film Screening – Circle Up\n7:00 – 7:20 Guest Speakers\n7:20 – 8:30 Circle Process – Small Group Reflections\n8:15 – 8:30 Closing Remarks\n8:30 – 9:00 After the Show – bonus time to speak with guest speakers for those who want to stay

We’ll also discuss the public education landscape following the election and going into the new legislative session on Beacon Hill.
