SUMMARY:Black Love Day
DESCRIPTION:Come and gather with us to celebrate Black Love Day! Tell us how you choose to love your partners\, friends\, and most of all yourself. \nBlack Love Day was founded in 1993 by Ayo Handy Kendi\, director of the African American Holiday Association. According to Kendi\, it is the third nationally observed black holiday – one of atonement\, reconciliation and celebration. Black Love Day is observed as a 24-hour demonstration of black love\, demonstrated through five specific acts: love towards the Creator\, for self\, for the family\, within the black community and for the black race.

SUMMARY:Lowell Naturalization Ceremony: Help Register New Citizens
DESCRIPTION:Come join the League of Women Voters (Greater Lowell & Haverhill Chapters) and help up to 1000 new American citizens register to vote. It’s a very rewarding experience! \nSchedule (all times are approximate):\n9:00: Table setup begins in lobby\n10:00-11:45: Tabling in lobby to explain what we are doing and hand out voter registration forms\n11:45-12:45: Go inside the auditorium to watch the naturalization ceremony (if you want)\n12:45-1:30: Return to the lobby to collect forms from new citizens and sort them out for delivery/mailing to the town halls. \nParking fills up quickly because there are so many people attending the ceremony. The best place to park is probably the Immaculate Conception Church parking lot\, or if that is unavailable\, the Lower Locks Parking Garage on Warren St. (usually $10 event parking)\, then cross the covered bridge over to the auditorium. There is also metered street parking. \nSee you there!

SUMMARY:February Jericho Walk At Burlington ICE Office
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our monthly Jericho Walk at the Burlington MA ICE office.. \nThe Jericho Walk is a silent interfaith prayer and act of solidarity. The walk draws inspiration from the Battle of Jericho\, in which the community marched around the city of Jericho seven times\, causing the city walls to fall. The Jericho Walk of today is a silent\, peaceful\, and prayerful walk to bring down the walls of our unjust immigration system and is open to people of all or no faiths. \nPlease bring signs calling for just treatment of those who are caught in our broken immigration system\, suggested messages “Keep Families Together”\, “No Family Separation”\, “Not One More/Ni Una Mas”\, “Not In Our Name”. Please refrain from signs explicitly endorsing or condemning any political candidate or official. \nWe will walk\, pray and sing together. \nWe will gather in front of the office\, along District Ave\, just look for the people holding signs. \nRain or shine unless the weather is extreme.

SUMMARY:Improve Your City in 5 Simple Steps
DESCRIPTION:Free and open to the (progressive) public! \nThe Incorruptibles’ mission is to fill all levels of government with unwavering politicians who fight for economic\, racial\, social\, and environmental justice. We looked for a model that we could take to thousands of cities across America that would elect multiple great candidates every election\, filling local\, then state\, then national government. We found that model — it’s been used and proven by the Richmond Progressive Alliance from Richmond\, CA. And you are now on the path to engaging your city or town the way that the RPA did in Richmond. This program will walk you through the same steps they took. \nPlease use Bartlett St. entrance. \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/259518168279577/ \nHave questions? hope@solidaritylowell.com

SUMMARY:Join Michelle at the MBTA's Public Meeting to Oppose Fare Hikes
DESCRIPTION:Sign On To Oppose MBTA Fare Hikes \nIn December 2018 the State’s Commission on the Future of Transportation and the City of Boston’s Carbon Free Boston initiative each released a report highlighting the urgent need for us to grow public transit ridership\, for our economy and for environment. One month later\, the MBTA announced proposed fare increases that would lead to continued ridership declines. There is no time left to delay in addressing climate change and income inequality. Instead of fare hikes\, we should be discussing bold ideas to invest in transit. \nThe MBTA is hosting a public meeting to collect feedback on the fare increase proposal on Wednesday\, February 27th at 6:30PM\, at the State Transportation Building (10 Park Plaza\, Boston). We intend to present this petition with signatures at that meeting. \nPlease sign on below and join us in person if you can! \nhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfxZqYUEiEMFy0Hb6oiJ2lsWkdwaeNIlJ7RuJTeF4XbU7ja4Q/viewform
