SUMMARY:ROE Act Advocacy Day
DESCRIPTION:Join us to pass the ROE Act and protect abortion access in Massachusetts! \nIn many states\, access to abortion is hanging on by a thread. Donald Trump and politicians like him are stopping at nothing to ban abortion. But in Massachusetts\, we are pushing forward. We have been working hard alongside elected leaders who are championing the ROE Act—a bold piece of state legislation that not only re-affirms the right to safe\, legal abortion\, but guarantees it is accessible and affordable to all people. \nWe can do this – but we need you with us. Join us on November 14 and urge your lawmakers to pass the ROE Act. \nWe will meet at the 32BJ SEIU Meeting Hall at 11 AM to hear from advocates and participate in a brief advocacy training before heading over to the State House to meet with lawmakers. See registration page for accessibility information. \nMassachusetts has long been a leader in health care access and reproductive rights. Let’s work together to make this a decisive moment for reproductive freedom in the commonwealth and pass the ROE Act! \nRSVP and get more info: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/roe-act-advocacy-day

SUMMARY:International Festival\, New England Justice for Our Neighbors
DESCRIPTION:For the past year\, many hardy volunteers have been providing support for the attorneys who provide legal advice and counsel to the immigrants who have visited the Lawrence and Lowell clinics. I’m just home from the Lawrence clinic tonight where we saw four clients. Lawyers offered advice for women dealing with domestic violence\, a teenager trying to find a new home\, and others seeking asylum form a home county where they are on the wrong side of the current ruling authority. This work is critical to the many immigrants who visited our clinics this year. \nPlease help us continue this work into the new year\, by supporting our fund raiser.  Make your reservations now by emailing us at jfonlawlowclinic@gmail.com. Tables or individual reservations can be made.\nThank you\,\nSharon Jones \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Rally for NATIONAL PERIOD DAY
DESCRIPTION:3-5pm\, Boston City Hall Plaza: Rally for NATIONAL PERIOD DAY in the  — elevating the issue of period poverty and demanding real change to making period products more accessible for all and passing the ‘I AM’ Bill in Massachusetts (S.1274/H.1959). This is an inclusive rally! Whether you menstruate or not\, YOU are welcome. Bring all your family and friends! Bring posters! Wear red! While several Massachusetts cities have made incredible strides by making menstrual products available in schools\, we need a statewide solution to period poverty. Nationally\, 1 in 4 women are unable to afford menstrual products. Non-binary and trans menstruators also face challenges in accessing menstrual products. Over 20\,000 individuals are homeless in Massachusetts. Lack of access to menstrual products is acutely difficult for homeless individuals who are already struggling to meet other basic needs\, and there is no legislation requiring free access to menstrual products in Massachusetts prisons and jails.Massachusetts has an opportunity to change that. Mass NOW’s I AM bill would provide access to free menstrual products\, without stigma\, to all menstruating individuals in public schools from 6th-12th grade\, homeless shelters\, prisons and county jails. SUMMARY:Stop Rx Greed - Lowell
DESCRIPTION:Americans depend on their prescriptions — but from cancer treatments to EpiPens\, drug companies’ skyrocketing prices are pushing life-saving treatments out of reach for those who need them. We pay among the highest prescription drug prices in the world so drug companies can make billions. No one should have to choose between buying medicine or buying food for our families. That’s not just wrong — it’s shameful. \nAARP has been leading the fight to Stop Rx Greed and lower prescription drug prices across the country\, but we can’t do it without your help. AARP Massachusetts is hosting a free Coffee Hour in Lowell where you can learn how to join the fight for lower prescription drug prices. We’ll be at Pollard Memorial Library from 11am to noon with coffee and snacks\, so come find out what you can do here in Massachusetts. \nRegistration\, while not required\, is encouraged: https://local.aarp.org/aarp-event/aarp-ma-rx-greed-community-conversation-lowell-ma-101719-zxnqhmzmpr6.html?usetown
