SUMMARY:Support Bills Introduced by the Massachusetts Renews Alliance
DESCRIPTION:Advocacy training March 22 6-8pm \nFor years\, 350 Mass has been working to build a wide coalition of labor\, youth\, climate justice\, Indigenous\, disabled\, and class justice organizers to build Green New Deal inspired policy in Massachusetts. The Massachusetts Renews Alliance is the culmination of these efforts. \n350 Mass and partners in the Mass Renews Alliance have introduced three bills into this legislative session: The Building Justice with Jobs Act would retrofit one million homes and create thousands of jobs across the state. The Food Justice with Jobs Act and Food Justice Frontline Act would create farm jobs for those in need\, establish community land trusts to run community farms\, and subsidize home gardening. \nTo pass these bills\, we are going to need cosponsors statewide. With their node structure\, 350 Mass is uniquely suited to organize advocacy meetings with representatives across the state. See their advocacy guide at  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WMamQfs8Lz8tLBtHQ7chZFAqPuKCIW1YuUUK9AB-2dw/edit?usp=sharing \nSign up for Advocacy Day training at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSepK_4Xlj-8n-21OAidnNc6lb9QWJXGiMXLw6VLJ9uGxbnLYg/viewform\n(If you can’t make it to the live training on March 22 6-8pm\, you can request a recording.)

SUMMARY:Symposium on Resisting New Norfolk County Women’s Prison
DESCRIPTION:Join Building Up People Not Prisons (BUPNP) in a virtual symposium to stop the construction of a new women’s prison in Norfolk County! SUMMARY:March Movie Night Series
DESCRIPTION:Sunday nights at 7pm ET\nFirst one March 7 \nLearn. Discuss…spur conversations on our future as a cooperative society \nCommunityBridge.com presents – An engaging series of films to spur conversations on our future as a cooperative society. March is Rebellion and Cooperatives month on CommunityBridge. This series of documentaries and films focuses on the United States history of uprisings that are left out of our school curriculum. \nIn US culture\, these topics are usually framed to raise guilt and further repression\, preventing positive dialog and actions to change the future. These films are presented as an opportunity for discussion\, not blame\, for building a movement towards an enlightened future and finding our part in the process as loving caring people working together to build a cooperative and inclusive economy for all. \nWe will share our thoughts on solutions and actions we can take as individuals and organizations working towards positive change and cooperative lives. \nPRIMER: A link to a 4 minute video description of worker-owned cooperatives: https://youtu.be/pKN-gxmVRUc \n\nMarch 7th – Double Feature: \n1. Freedom or Death – 15mins \nThe Louisiana Slave Revolt of 1811\, also known as: The German Coast Uprising:  In January 1811\, five hundred slaves of south Louisiana rose in active rebellion against their masters in the largest slave revolt in American history. This film is a bit sanitized and that  presentation will be a part of our discussion. What to do about sanitized history… \n2. Own The Change – 30mins \nBuilding Economic Democracy One Worker Co-op at a Time. A short\, practical guide for those considering worker owned cooperatives\, made by GRITtv & TESA\, the Toolbox for Education and Social Action. Featuring conversations with worker-owners from Union Cab; Ginger Moon; Arizmendi Bakery\, Anti-Oppression Resource and Training Alliance \nMovie trailer: https://youtu.be/h5p6PBgiL3o \n\nInvite your friends to Movie Nights by sending them this link to sign on to the Movie Nights Invitation List: \nhttps://lists.mayfirst.org/mailman/listinfo/movienight

SUMMARY:ROE Act Advocacy Day
DESCRIPTION:Join us to pass the ROE Act and protect abortion access in Massachusetts! \nIn many states\, access to abortion is hanging on by a thread. Donald Trump and politicians like him are stopping at nothing to ban abortion. But in Massachusetts\, we are pushing forward. We have been working hard alongside elected leaders who are championing the ROE Act—a bold piece of state legislation that not only re-affirms the right to safe\, legal abortion\, but guarantees it is accessible and affordable to all people. \nWe can do this – but we need you with us. Join us on November 14 and urge your lawmakers to pass the ROE Act. \nWe will meet at the 32BJ SEIU Meeting Hall at 11 AM to hear from advocates and participate in a brief advocacy training before heading over to the State House to meet with lawmakers. See registration page for accessibility information. \nMassachusetts has long been a leader in health care access and reproductive rights. Let’s work together to make this a decisive moment for reproductive freedom in the commonwealth and pass the ROE Act! \nRSVP and get more info: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/roe-act-advocacy-day

SUMMARY:Rally for NATIONAL PERIOD DAY
DESCRIPTION:3-5pm\, Boston City Hall Plaza: Rally for NATIONAL PERIOD DAY in the  — elevating the issue of period poverty and demanding real change to making period products more accessible for all and passing the ‘I AM’ Bill in Massachusetts (S.1274/H.1959). This is an inclusive rally! Whether you menstruate or not\, YOU are welcome. Bring all your family and friends! Bring posters! Wear red! While several Massachusetts cities have made incredible strides by making menstrual products available in schools\, we need a statewide solution to period poverty. Nationally\, 1 in 4 women are unable to afford menstrual products. Non-binary and trans menstruators also face challenges in accessing menstrual products. Over 20\,000 individuals are homeless in Massachusetts. Lack of access to menstrual products is acutely difficult for homeless individuals who are already struggling to meet other basic needs\, and there is no legislation requiring free access to menstrual products in Massachusetts prisons and jails.Massachusetts has an opportunity to change that. Mass NOW’s I AM bill would provide access to free menstrual products\, without stigma\, to all menstruating individuals in public schools from 6th-12th grade\, homeless shelters\, prisons and county jails. For more information\, go to www.massnow.org/iam

SUMMARY:Support Data Equity Now! - Show up for All Communities in MA
DESCRIPTION:Data Equity Bill (H.2681) Hearing\nTues\, Oct 15\, 10:30 AM (start time)\nState House – Gardner Auditorium \nThere is opposition expected. Every person is needed to show up and support the bill\, even if you can only make it during your lunch break or after work! \n—– \nCurrently\, when demographic data is collected\, they are combined to produce statistics as a single summary of an entire racial group (i.e. Black\, Latinx\, Asian\, White). \nHowever\, all ethnic subgroups of each race has different histories\, background\, needs\, and challenges. Without accurate data broken down by detailed sub-ethnic groups\, critical needs of some communities in the areas\, such as language\, economic status\, education\, health\, could be left unmet. \nWith increasing diversity in the Commonwealth\, it is important to accurately document\, measure and report data that informs public efforts to address social\, economic\, or educational inequalities which persist but may be invisible in data analyzed only through broad racial categories. \nH.2681 suggests that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts standardize state forms to collect optional race and ethnicity data to more closely resemble the way the federal Census breaks down demographic data. This allows for more comprehensive research\, analysis\, and provision of services to all of our Commonwealth’s diverse communities. \nThis would highlight and uplift data representing communities in our Commonwealth including but not limited to Vietnamese\, Cambodian\, Bangladeshi\, Nepalese\, Haitian\, Cape Verdean\, Ethiopian\, Somalian\, Puerto Rican\, Salvadoran\, Dominicans\, and Colombians.
