DESCRIPTION:Rally to Pass 4 Key Protections \nTuesday\, July 10th\, 11:30am-1:30pm\, Massachusetts State House\, 24 Beacon St\, Boston \nWe have rallied\, made calls\, sent emails and visited our legislators – and we need to keep going because our job is not done! The FY2019 State Budget has not yet been released. It must include the 4 Key Protections: 1. No police inquiries about immigration status. 2. Stop collaboration agreements with ICE. 3. Provide basic due process protections. 4. Refuse to contribute to any discriminatory registry. We will meet outside on the State House steps and hear from a few of our leaders. We will then enter through the Bowdoin St entrance (around the side – not the Hooker Entrance) and march to the area outside of the House Chamber (3rd floor). DESCRIPTION:As the legislative session rapidly draws to a close\, time is running out to take action to support climate policy. We are all witnessing the catastrophic effects of climate change all around us – most notably with the heat waves that ravaged the country last month\, and we know that the impacts of climate change are only getting worse. And guess what? The House rejected ALL the amendments that aligned with our priorities\, and instead supported a regressive policy agenda that does not safeguard our climate. \nIt is time for us to take bold action. \n1) Rally and Call Thursday\, July 19th \nWe’re asking you to join us on Thursday\, July 19th at the State House for an Emergency Climate Rally to demonstrate the need for the Mass House to act on climate now! \nCan we count on you to show your support for the climate policies we need by attending our emergency rally? \n2) Share who you’re fighting for! \nWe’re asking everyone who comes to bring FIVE copies of a picture of who they are fighting for. This could be a picture of a child\, grandchild\, niece\, nephew\, cousin\, or sibling\, or friend. Please write on the back of the photo why you care for this person\, and why climate change concerns you. \nIf you can’t make it on Thursday\, please send a picture of who you are fighting for to your rep and post it to social media. We’ll have more details about this ask early next week. \n3) Call Your Rep \nIf you cannot make it to the rally\, it’s more integral than ever to call your representative and ask them to take impactful climate action. Make sure to call your representative on Thursday\, 7/19 and we will follow up with a call script. Please also consider sending a copy of that photo to your rep over social media and use the hashtag \nLet’s flood the phones and the floor of the Massachusetts Statehouse to show the urgency of immediate climate action in our state policy!

The university benefits from and provides services to ICE\, making them complicit in the agency’s criminalization and dehumanization of the immigrant community. \nNortheastern also directly contributes to the gentrification of Roxbury and other surrounding neighborhoods\, displacing and breaking apart their communities. \nWe demand permanent protection\, dignity\, and respect for all immigrants and institutions such as Northeastern inhibit this through their complicity. Join us as we march on Northeastern University to demand that they end their multi-million dollar contract and student co-op program with ICE. \nThe collaboration of institutions like Northeastern makes the deportation machine possible.
