Volunteer With Us & Keep Us Growing All Summer

Get your hands into the warm summer soil! When you volunteer on our farms, you play a crucial role in our local food system by planting, cultivating, and harvesting Lowell-grown food. All volunteers are automatically enrolled in our Volunteer Appreciation Program — the more hours you volunteer, the more prizes you earn! Look forward to collecting brand-new Mill City Grows merchandise, gift cards to our Mobile Market, and more! We welcome individuals as well as groups of 5-30 participants. Please contact us at volunteer@millcitygrows.org with any questions on volunteering during the busy summer season. Join us for a breath of fresh air in a fun, rewarding, and rejuvenating environment!

50 Miles More Volunteering

50 Miles More is a youth led initiative. In Massachusetts, this five day event will begin in Worcester and end in Springfield, MA. We need many many adult volunteers to accomplish our goal. Please help us by signing up to volunteer here and sharing this event with your friends and family.

The dates are August 22-26. On August 22nd all the student Marchers will gather in Worcester to get check in and get ready for the march. Students will spend the night together and travel together, to the start of the march, the next morning.

The actual march starts on August 23 all the way to the 26th. However, on the 26th we are only walking a few miles, leading into a rally at Smith & Wesson.

Volunteers are provided lodging if needed. Volunteers are not required to stay the entire 5 days, and can come and go as much their volunteer roles and schedule allows. Lodging will primarily be at churches and community buildings of the town we pass through.

Get the Word Out: Public Meetings on Voting Rights Lawsuit

Lowell Alliance is seeking volunteers to get the word out about the upcoming listening sessions for residents to give feedback about local governance, elections, and the voting rights lawsuit.

It’s important for residents to be informed about this issue because they have a high chance in effecting the outcome by giving their feedback to the Councilors via the ad hoc sub committee and showing up at the final City Council meeting.
Our hopes are that more engagement will translate to local leaders running for local office and voters from diverse communities feeling represented.

If you do see this and have any interest in helping or know others who might be, please let me know. We’ll have fliers soon and will be scheduling outreach with volunteers. mtauras@ywcaoflowell.org
